Textile weaving and spinning

Nisthora for textile weaving and spinning.

A weaving shed can have hundreds of looms, each stopping for a warp or weft break many times a shift. Nisthora watches every loom's speed, picks and stops, so you know which looms, yarns and shifts lose the most time.

The challenge

What gets in the way.

Many machines, many small stops

Each break is short, but hundreds of them add up to hours.

Hard to see by walking

One supervisor cannot watch every loom in a large shed.

Dye lots

Shade varies between dye lots. Fabric from different lots must not be mixed in one order.

What Nisthora connects to and measures.

Machines

  • Air-jet, rapier and water-jet looms
  • Ring frames and open-end spinning
  • Warping and sizing machines
  • Knitting machines
  • Dyeing machines
  • Inspection frames

Readings

  • Loom speed (RPM)
  • Picks inserted
  • Run / stop signal
  • Warp and weft break count
  • Metres woven
  • Energy use per loom

Typical stop reasons

  • Warp break
  • Weft break
  • Beam change
  • Style change
  • Waiting for weaver
  • Mechanical fault

These are common examples. Each plant names its own machines and lines, and sets up its own stop reasons, in the words its team uses.

Traceability

Batch, commercially essential

Shade changes with dye-bath temperature, pH and time. A small shift is invisible in the shed and obvious in a finished garment. Nisthora's batch records tie each run to its machine, shift and readings.

A day with Nisthora

A weaving unit shows every loom on the shop floor board. The Pareto shows most stops are Weft break on looms running one yarn. The team raises an investigation, the fishbone points to Material, and the yarn supplier is asked to fix it.

Example for illustration.
