Nisthora Edge

A small computer that reads your machines and never loses a reading.

Nisthora Edge runs on an industrial PC or a similar small computer inside your plant. It talks to your PLCs over the plant network and sends their readings securely to Nisthora.

What it does

Built for the shop floor.

Many machines, one device

One edge device reads many PLCs, from different makers, at the same time.

Six protocols built in

OPC UA, Modbus TCP, Siemens S7, EtherNet/IP, MQTT Sparkplug B and HTTP.

Keeps data when offline

Every reading is saved on the device first. If the internet drops, it sends everything later.

Never counts twice

Each reading carries its own number, so a re-sent reading is recognised and stored only once.

Report by exception

Steady readings are not re-sent every second. Changes and counters always are.

One-time install

One command installs it as a service. It starts on its own after a power cut.

Remote updates

New versions are pushed from Nisthora. No visit to the plant.

Its own key

Each edge device has its own secure key and can only send data for its own machines.

Install

From box to first reading.

  1. Create the edge device

The platform admin adds it in the Device Hub and gets a one-time install code.

  2. Run one command

On the plant computer, paste the install command. It sets itself up as a service.

  3. It checks in

The device appears as connected in the Device Hub, with its version.

  4. Add PLCs

From then on, PLCs and readings are added on screen and sync to the device.

Reliability

What happens when things go wrong.

SituationWhat Nisthora Edge does
Internet drops for an hourKeeps reading every machine and stores the data on its own disk. Sends it all, in order, when the link is back.
Power cut at the plantStarts again on its own when power returns. Readings already stored are kept.
One PLC stops answeringMarks that PLC as offline. The other PLCs are read as normal.
A driver hits an errorThe error is contained to that driver. The rest of the agent keeps working.
A reading is sent twiceNisthora recognises it by its number and stores it once, so counts stay correct.
A new version is releasedThe update is pushed from Nisthora and the agent restarts itself on the new version.
