Dairy and ice cream processing

Nisthora for dairy and ice cream processing.

Filling, freezing and packing lines run in batches with clear cycle times, and food law asks you to trace every lot. Nisthora measures each line live and ties every reading to the batch it belongs to.

The challenge

What gets in the way.

Short shelf life

Lost line time means product that cannot be packed in time.

Cleaning takes time

Cleaning between runs is planned downtime. It must not be counted as a breakdown.

Lot traceability by law

Food rules require you to trace each lot forward and back.

What Nisthora connects to and measures.

Machines

  • Fillers and cup-fill machines
  • Continuous freezers
  • Pasteurisers
  • Wrapping and cartoning machines
  • Cold-room conveyors
  • Checkweighers

Readings

  • Packs filled
  • Run / stop signal
  • Rejected packs
  • Product and room temperature
  • Line speed
  • Energy and refrigeration load

Typical stop reasons

  • Cleaning in place (CIP)
  • Flavour or pack changeover
  • No packaging material
  • Filler jam
  • Temperature hold
  • Waiting for mix

These are common examples. Each plant names its own machines and lines, and sets up its own stop reasons, in the words its team uses.

Traceability

Batch, legally required

In the US, the FSMA 204 food traceability rule asks for traceability lot codes; in the EU, Regulation 178/2002 asks for one-step-forward, one-step-back tracing. Nisthora's batch records hold the line, shift, readings and stops for every lot.

A day with Nisthora

An ice cream plant marks Cleaning in place as a planned stop. Its OEE stops treating cleaning as lost time, and the real losses, filler jams and late mix, rise to the top of the Pareto.

Example for illustration.

Built for plants like yours.

Live OEE per line

Availability, performance and quality for every line, live.

Tap-only machine panel

Operators press Start and Stop, and tap a picture for the stop reason.

Downtime Pareto

The few stop reasons that cost the most, sorted for you.

Maintenance forecast

Which line needs maintenance in the next 30 days, and why.

Anomaly detection

Flags readings that look unusual for that line.

Alerts

Limits on any reading, sent in-app, by email, SMS, push or webhook.
